Through a series of custom combined methods, meditation can give relief from chronic pain. Mental processes can alter sensory phenomena, including pain. Studies have shown an approximate 40 percent reduction in pain intensity ratings during meditation when compared with non-meditation. Our clients report these results as well. By activating and reinforcing some areas of the brain used in pain processing, meditation has the overall effect of helping to reduce pain intensity in patients/clients.
